Host, HWY6 to Africa
Brief info

Petraa is a JUNO-nominated Reggae artist and media personality whose dynamic presence has shaped Canada’s Reggae and broadcasting landscape for nearly two decades. Born in the UK and now based in Toronto, she entered the Canadian music scene in 2007, building a career marked by consistency, resilience, and a deep passion for cultural expression. Her early work with Qryptonik Records led to notable collaborations and appearances on Much Music and Rogers TV, establishing her as a rising voice in the industry.

While pursuing her degree at York University, Petraa expanded into radio broadcasting, hosting “Represent” on CHRY 105.5 FM (now VIBE 105.5 FM). Her show introduced Canadian audiences to the sounds of UK Garage, Grime, Funky House, and Ragga Jungle, bridging underground UK culture with mainstream Canadian radio. She further honed her broadcasting skills through an internship at FLOW 93.5 FM. In 2018, her powerful single Never Broken became a career-defining release, earning her a JUNO Award nomination in 2020. That same year, her collaboration with Ras Morgan reached #1 on Jamaica’s CVM Music Charts.

Petraa’s media career continued to flourish as co-host of the show “HWY 6 to Africa” on LuvBay Radio, a program that connects Reggae, Afrobeats, and the global music industry. Alongside JUNO winner and producer TyB and Ron Molinga, producer and songwriter, she has interviewed renowned artists including Etana, Alaine, Romain Virgo, Konshens, Gramps Morgan, Oxlade, and Eddy Kenzo.

As an artist, broadcaster, and community leader, Petraa remains a powerful force in the cultural dialogue, celebrated for her versatility, authenticity, and unwavering commitment to uplifting voices across the Diaspora. As she often says, “the best is yet to come.”
